Are You Growing Weeds or Flowers? The Law of Thinking

Are You Growing Weeds or Flowers? The Law of Thinking

The Law of Thinking is the first Universal Law I will cover in the series I introduced last week. Although most think of thoughts as just ideas, images, and words swirling around privately in our minds until we express them with words, Thoughts are actually energetic waves.

Holliwell, the author of "Working with the Law," explains, "It is an actual force or substance, as real as electricity, light, heat, water, or even stones/crystals. We are surrounded by a vast ocean of 'thought stuff' through which our thoughts pass like currents of electricity or tiny streaks of light or musical waves. You can flash your thoughts from pole to pole, completely around the world many times in less than a single second."

Teaching the Brain: The 10 Factors of Learning (Guest Blog)

Teaching the Brain: The 10 Factors of Learning

Part 4 of 4-part series on better speaking with
Guest Blogger, Lizabeth Phelps

This 4-part series has centered around public speaking. The first week, I spoke about mirror neurons and how our audiences “mirror” our energy; the second week, I spoke about maintaining energy when you’re speaking about your business off-stage (where most entrepreneurs fumble); and last week, I urged you to “get strategic” about your speaking and shared the strategy that makes not only getting clients so much easier, but ensures that every one of your speaking engagements maintains your brand identity.

Today, I want to circle back to delivery from stage.

To be your best as an audience leader, you must understand how to teach the brain–what the brain needs in order to learn. This is a massive subject, and one I’ve spent years absorbing. My public speaking training, Secrets of Impact and Influence, integrates the learning, memory and emotion areas of neuroscientific research to teach how to get the attention of audiences’ brains, keep that attention, and enable long-term learning.

Here, I will share some of what I teach in that training: the 10 factors of rapid and deep learning. You will find them in the graphic below:

Business Ownership is a Growth-Accelerator!

Business Ownership is a Growth-Accelerator!

When I made the leap from employee to full-time business owner, I didn't realize it was going to stretch me far beyond what any personal growth books, seminars, or techniques I had ever utilized before.

If I had known all the challenges I was going to face when I made that decision, there's a very good chance I would have been too scared to move forward with it.

If you're feeling this way, too, let me share some insights with you to help you make the decision to continue on this path.

Creating a Healthy Relationship with Money

Creating a Healthy Relationship with Money

I was listening to a telecall this week and heard an interesting concept about money:

Treat money like you would a person you are dating and want to have a good relationship with.

This perspective has completely shifted my concept about money and my relationship with it! It has also allowed me to see some ways I have been pushing money away instead of inviting it to "move in with me."

Here are some things to look at and work on to improve your relationship with money from the perspective of dating.

Understanding and Working with Universal Laws

Understanding and Working with Universal Laws

Have you had things happen in your life that were unwanted or out of your control to change? Have you ever felt at the mercy of a seemingly cruel world or a cruel "God"? Have you ever wondered if we live in a random universe, or one with consistent laws that we can depend upon and live by? I know I have. Ever since I was very young, I have sought a higher meaning and purpose to everything in my world in order to gain a sense of peace, acceptance, control, power, and hope.

This search has led me to many philosophies, esoteric teachings, religious doctrines, spiritual principles, and practical applications. My path has brought me answers and more questions. I have worked to best apply what I have learned to my life and to my business, with both failure and success. And I will continue to do so as I learn and strive to grow.

A book and principles I have been exposed to through one of my mentors, David Neagle, is "Working with the Law: 11 Truth Principles for Successful Living" by Dr. Raymond Holliwell. Dr. Holliwell applied logical thinking and observation to correlate the laws of the physical universe to those of life on the mental and spiritual levels.

"The question uppermost in the world of thought today is whether a man has the capacity, equipment, and power to control his life; whether he can be what he wants to be; or whether he is a drop in the great ocean of life." - Raymond Holliwell

Manifesting Techniques I Use–Mind Movies

Manifesting Techniques I Use–Mind Movies

If you've been exposed to Law of Attraction principles or positive thinking teachers, you've probably heard of Vision Boards or Vision Maps. This is where you create a collage of pictures (usually cut our from magazines, or drawn if you have such talent) and words/quotes that represent the things you want to be/do/have in your life. It's a visual representation of your desires.

Looking at these images every day is supposed to help keep you focused on and resonating with your desires to help the Universe bring them into your life. Many people, including success teachers like John Assaraf and Jack Canfield, have told stories about how they manifested things that they put on their vision boards.

I have made vision boards myself in the past, and several years ago I created a Vision Book (a flip-page sketch book with the pictures and words pasted on them, two pages for each area of my life, like career, finanances, relationships, health, travel, spiritual growth, and "things").

But a few years ago I found something even better! Mind Movies!

Why Your Energy as a Presenter = Your Results (Guest Blog)

Monkey See, Monkey Feel: Why Your Energy As a Presenter = Your Results
Guest Blogger, Lizabeth Phelps

I tell my students all the time: “Your audiences mirror you. If you’re flat, they’ll be flat. If you’re highly analytical, they’ll go straight into their head, too. Make sure you’re emitting the kind of energy you want them feeling.” And I end with, “Your energy equals your results.”

Some students get it, eventually; others never do. You can imagine, then, how overjoyed I was to discover that neuroscientists would heartily agree with my proclamations. It turns out that we have a very special brain cell that is responsible for mirroring the actions and emotions of others.

Can You Relate? (Guest Blog)

Can You Relate?
Guest Blogger, Kim Finley

One of the things my small business clients will hear me say over and over is, “People don’t buy from companies; they buy from people they like.”  I find myself saying it so often, I believe, because I have a product-driven business.  We build and sell websites and other forms of internet marketing…so people assume we must always sell on the merits of our products, service, etc.

I am not saying that does not matter; you have to have a solid foundation if you are going to be successful in business at all. But if the explosion of social media into the world of marketing, family, relationships, and business has shown us anything, it has demonstrated that you cannot take the relationship out of the business process.

Must-Have Marketing Mix Elements: Speaking

Must-Have Marketing Mix Elements: Speaking

In a previous blog, I wrote about the importance of having a marketing mix and determining your top 3 effective marketing tactics to focus on. I've already covered one of them–networking. This post will cover another prime tactic to grow your business, which is through speaking.

The great thing about speaking as a marketing tactic is that it not only allows you to get in front of people to have the opportunity to generate leads but also gives you the opportunity to build your credibility and be seen as an "expert" in your field or topic. Yet so many entrepreneurs and business owners do not take advantage of this powerful tactic due to lack of knowledge or lack of confidence.
