<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">I was reviewing a client&#39;s &quot;10 Goals in 90 Days&quot; worksheet today and helping him to better define, plan, and create deadlines for his goals.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">A few of his goals were too broad, and too big of a stretch&nbsp;for his stated timeframe. Although I encourage clients to stretch themselves and imagine doing or having bigger things than have before, I also make sure the goals have a good chance of success in relation to the circumstances of the client and/or their market.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="more-1873"></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Going from &quot;zero to hero&quot; in one day is more likely than not to fail. Success and growth is a process. Even big leaps are often the result of incremental and consistent action that finally pays off. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">It&#39;s important to set goals that are measurable and have a deadline. Measurable means having some objective way of assessing its fulfillment and creates a sense of direction. Deadlines create a sense of urgency and a milestone at which to check your results or progress. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Think about it like trying to shoot an arrow at a target. The bullseye in the center might be the ultimate goal. That&#39;s what you aim for. Once you draw the bow back and let it go (take action you believe will get the arrow to the bullseye), you see where it ended up. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Did you hit the bullseye? If so, you achieved the goal. If not, you can see how close you came. Even if you didn&#39;t hit the bullseye, did you land on the target? If so, you are further along toward the goal than a moment ago, which is a partial success. And you now have information you didn&#39;t have before that allows you to assess the situation and if/what adjustments might need to be made if you want to continue to pursue the ultimate goal.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">If you&#39;ve never shot an arrow before, there&#39;s a lot you don&#39;t know and you&#39;re probably going to need to make several tries and assess each time what adjustments need to be made to hit the eye, or at least get closer than before. Every attempt gives you more data&nbsp;with which to make additional assessments and corrections. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Based on this understanding, we agreed to some adjustments that created a smaller goal in a shorter timeframe that was more realistic and allowed for assessment sooner. For example, instead of trying to get 10 new clients in a month and a half (when he hadn&#39;t even gotten his first client yet), we set the goal of 2 new clients in 2 weeks. It was more realistic since he was starting from zero and didn&#39;t yet have any experiential data to draw from, and it was a shorter timeframe of assessment to allow for quicker feedback and adjustment.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">If you have some goals you&#39;ve set for yourself, look them over to make sure that you have broken the larger (and relatively unfamiliar)&nbsp;ones down into shorter-term goals that allow for more likelihood of success as well as quicker assessment and adjustment.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px"><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Of course, working with a mentor or coach can help give you some (or a lot) of the experiential data about reaching your goal that you are missing as a &quot;newbie.&quot; This shortcuts the learning process and allows you to do less trial and error, helping you reach your goal more quickly with less effort and frustration. </span></span></span></span></p>

For instance, if I SHOULD manifest enough money to pay off debt, does this mean that I don&rsquo;t DESIRE it enough to manifest the money because it&rsquo;s more of a &ldquo;should?&rdquo; Or, in another case, if I really, really desire the $12,000 diamond necklace I saw in a window yesterday, am I likely to &#8230;&nbsp;</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">manifest the money? And if there is a conflict, as in a &ldquo;should&rdquo; and a &ldquo;desire,&rdquo; how do I resolve the conflict and do both?<br />

<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">Thanks for this great question!</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">Most people aren&rsquo;t excited about paying debt, but that doesn&rsquo;t mean the money isn&rsquo;t there. I recommend paying off your debt AND buying the $12,000.00 necklace.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">Your goals should allow you to accomplish ANYTHING you want, and if paying off your debt and purchasing a diamond necklace is what you want, that&rsquo;s the goal you should be setting.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">However, you don&rsquo;t need to focus on paying all your debt at once. There&rsquo;s nothing wrong with paying it off in increments. You don&rsquo;t want to make paying off that debt a hardship for yourself, or you&rsquo;ll come to resent it, and that opens up a new problem. Make sure you don&rsquo;t sacrifice everything to pay it off.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">The only flip side to your &ldquo;desire and should&rdquo; question has to do with shame.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">If you have shame around your debt, if you&rsquo;re embarrassed by it, or try to hide it, you will have a difficult time manifesting the money needed to pay it off.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">Why?</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">Because how you do anything is how you do everything, and if you&rsquo;re experiencing shame, it will prevent you from doing the things necessary to manifest the money.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">So if you can&rsquo;t see that debt is simply a tool and be grateful for it and truly appreciate what it&rsquo;s provided to you, you may want to take a long hard look as to how you actually feel about the debt.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">Once you drop the shame and negative feelings around it, you&rsquo;ll be surprised how much easier it will be to manifest the money to pay it off.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">When I first heard this concept from David, part of me wanted to believe it and part of me was resistant to the idea. After all, I had a strong desire for a LOT of things in my life and business but couldn&#39;t seem to manifest them. The means just didn&#39;t seem available. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">However, as I studied more with David and took his Miracle of Money course, I began to open up to the truth of this principle. And what I discovered is that very often the way to manifest what I wanted WAS already present, but it came in the form of something I was resisting doing! Like asking for money (from prospective clients, from family/the bank/credit cards), eliminating a negative habit or person from my life, or putting myself &quot;out there&quot; in a bigger way.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 14px">Once I began to do things that had been out of my comfort zone or required more effort on my part, I began to manifest more (and more quickly). <p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Whether you have always gravitated toward leadership roles or you were thrust into a leadership role because of a cause or mission you are passionate about, effective leadership takes courage, patience, empathy, confidence, likability, and trust. But most of all, it takes courage.</span></span></p>
<p><span id="more-1861"></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Courage to step up where others wouldn&rsquo;t, to put yourself in front of people and declare yourself a leader, and to motivate others to take action based on your direction. Leadership is not for the weak-minded.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">But even the most promising or best-intentioned leaders can get trapped by the gremlins of negative internal dialog. Fear and limiting beliefs can cause one to doubt himself, his direction, his mission. This can lead to hesitation on decision-making, confusing or conflicting direction for action, or worst of all, ego-maniacal behavior.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">As a student and teacher of the mind and behavior, I understand what causes people to fall short of their goals no matter how strong the motivation is to succeed. It has been my work for over 16 years to help others (and myself) to neutralize these inner gremlins and achieve far greater potential.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Whatever results you are getting in your life or your business, your mission is a <strong>direct result of your thoughts.</strong> I use the TEAR formula to explain this.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Your <strong>T</strong>houghts create <strong>E</strong>motions (based on the judgment or meaning we give to something&mdash;positive or negative). Your Emotions in turn influence your <strong>A</strong>ction (what you do). And your Action in turn produces a <strong>R</strong>esult (cause and effect).</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">As humans, we are always seeking to give &ldquo;meaning&rdquo; to events and <em>that</em> is what causes us trouble. Yet, events have no inherent meaning. Different people can assign differing meanings to the same event. For example, rain is neither good nor bad; it just &ldquo;is.&rdquo; However, a bride with an outdoor wedding planned can judge the rain as &ldquo;bad&rdquo; and a farmer in a drought can judge the rain as &ldquo;good.&rdquo; Neither is true&mdash;it&rsquo;s just a judgment or perception.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">When we&rsquo;re growing up, we create beliefs (&ldquo;rules&rdquo; we take on as &ldquo;absolutes&rdquo; and &ldquo;truths&rdquo;) about ourselves, the world, others, money, relationships, food, etc. We then function off of those beliefs, which are a large part of our thought process. If we have limiting beliefs (beliefs that limit our or anothers&rsquo; ability), our perception and thought process is <strong>skewed</strong> and will create negative emotions (the greatest of which is FEAR), creating less-than-optimal (and often destructive) action, which will lead to results in kind.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">For many leaders, limiting beliefs that cause inertia or self-sabotage can be, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m not good enough,&rdquo; &ldquo;I&rsquo;m not important,&rdquo; &ldquo;What I have to say isn&rsquo;t important,&rdquo; &ldquo;If I say/do this, I&rsquo;ll be rejected,&rdquo; &ldquo;If I make a mistake I&rsquo;ll be rejected,&rdquo; among, of course, others.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Which of these do you recognize saying to yourself from time to time (or even often)? If you need to be confident and motivational with your &ldquo;flock,&rdquo; can you see how having one or more of these limiting beliefs can cause problems for you?</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">Limiting beliefs can be insidious in their destruction of great leaders and the people they are meant to help. Finding ways to identify and eliminate them&ndash;and their habits&ndash;is one of the best investments leaders can make to ensure their ability to carry out the mission and effect the change they are dedicated to create.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Prioritization means to arrange (items to be attended to) in order of their relative importance. The more projects you are involved in and the more you do for your business and personal life, the more you need to prioritize your activities.</span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Creating priorities is a bit different from planning your day. What comes first, that wagon or the horse? In this case, what should you do first, plan, or prioritize?</span></span></span></span></p>
<p><span id="more-1831"></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">You need to be clear on what is most important to you before you begin to plan your day. If you plan your day based on everything that needs to get done vs. planning your day according to importance, you may end up &ldquo;doing&rdquo; things but not accomplishing much. Here are three super simple things you can do prioritize your day before you plan:</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>A. What is most important for you today? </strong><br />
	Priorities can shift based on previous days, mood, etc. Before you begin your day, be clear on your intention and what you want to accomplish. If nothing else happens today, what must take place? Identify what you want to achieve and set your priority and intention for today based on that only. If you manage to accomplish others things, great! If not, you have accomplished what you set out to do, which is very powerful!</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>B. Limit your priorities. </strong><br />
	If everything that needs to get done seems to be of high importance to you, you must then use the ABCs of prioritization. After making your list, place an A next to things of super duper high importance that must get done today. Place a B next to things that should get done today but won&rsquo;t stop you from moving forward if it doesn&rsquo;t get done. Place a C next to the things that will only get done after everything else and won&rsquo;t cause panic if they are not done.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>C. Evaluate your progress. </strong><br />
	At the end of your day, look at what you accomplished and evaluate your efforts. If there is area for improvement, then note what went wrong and try again tomorrow. By taking a closer look at the way you handle your priorities will help you create a better success for each day that follows.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">1. Security. To have a feeling of financial or emotional security. Either because you&#39;re currently in a situation where you don&#39;t have it, or because you had a strong feeling of not having it in the past and you will do anything to avoid it again.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">2. Freedom. This can sometimes be related to finances, but is usually emotional. Feeling trapped or restricted is something the person is experiencing that they want to move as far away from as quickly as possible.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px"><span style="font-size: 14px">3. A cause or mission. This could be something personal and on a small scale (like to prove to your dad that he was wrong that you&#39;d never amount to anything or to retire by the age of 50).&nbsp;Or it could be&nbsp;global (like to change the way Americans eat or start a world-wide movement to share your transformation/healing modality and help more people).</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">As I&#39;ve mentioned in other blog posts, being in business for yourself is not an easy task. And it&#39;s not for those who don&#39;t have resiliency or faith. When fear sets in about any tasks you have to do, having a sales conversation or follow-up call with a prospect, or about &quot;making it&quot; in general, refocusing on your Big Why and wrapping yourself up in the emotional aspects of achieving it will help you do what you need to do and continue to forge ahead so you can achieve the next milestone in your business and live your Why.</span></span></p>

And the price for everything is just $5! </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px">Now, some of the $5 deals are for small units of something, like $5 for 1 minute or 1 unit of something that you would want MORE than 1 minute or unit of, so you would end up paying more than $5 for what you need.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px">However, some of the resources you can find or work you can get someone to do for you really is just $5. And buyer ratings on the deals seem to indicate that the majority of them do really good, quality work! No catch, no strings. How some of these freelancers can afford to do what they do for so little (some are from other countries, where $5 is a lot of money, but there are also Americans on there.</span></p>

Fiverr has a user protection policy, too, which is a nice feature to feel secure about your purchases.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>1. Capture attention</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">You have to think of creative headlines and opening paragraphs to convince people to open any follow up email you write. One of the best ways to do this is to add the person&rsquo;s name in the title and in the text. Come up with a few ideas and test them all to find out the most effective ones.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>2. Create curiosity</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Find a way for people to want to find out what is contained in your follow up email. This can be done by creating mystery in the title and opening paragraph. For instance, you can put your title in question form and make people search for an answer in the body. You also have to show them how they stand to gain from your follow up email. You could tell your respondents how the product is not for everyone, what it is not, etc.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>3. Tell a story</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Formatting your follow up email into a story form will break down people&rsquo;s barriers to being sold to, capture their attention and therefore give you a platform on which to pitch your product. You also have to make respondents identify with the story line for maximum effect. For instance, if your follow up email is about driving, you could make a story with a title &lsquo;do you make these driving mistakes?&rsquo; and follow it up with a short story.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>4. Dispense useful information</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Your follow up email should show respondents how they could use your product to solve any problems they have. This will further help in convincing them to buy your product. Your follow up email should also contain detailed directions on how to solve a particular problem with your product. Each follow up email may also contain a link to free e-courses and webinars that educate your readers on how to get the most out of your product or service.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>5.<strong> </strong>Create trust</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Each follow up email should be crafted to increase the level of trust your respondents have in you. Once respondents know that you want to help them and not just make money from them, they start paying attention to each follow up email you send out. They also convert more readily. A good way to improve trust is dishing out a lot of free and useful information about the subject matter. For instance, if your follow up email is about building furniture, you can add information about where to get the best raw materials at the lowest price. When creating trust in your follow up email, you could add some negative aspects of your product and take a soft sell approach.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>6.<strong> </strong>Add facts to claims</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">If you are pitching a product in your follow up email, you should make claims and back them up with facts. This will allow your respondents to believe your claims. These facts can be in the form of customer testimonials, figures, video etc.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><strong>7.<strong> </strong>Create scarcity</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Your follow up email should prompt respondents to buy your product as soon as possible. You can do this by offering time limited bonuses, discounts, special offers etc. You should also explain the reason as to why you are doing this to your respondents.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12px"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif">In a nutshell, taking time to think of an effective follow up email series will go a long way in increasing sales, website traffic and rapport with your respondents.</span></span></p>
